Minions Review

Description

So, I checked out Minions a couple weeks ago (about damn time I reviewed it) and I gotta say, I enjoyed it. For what its worth, I think they did an admirable job with this movie. lets dive into it, shall we?

Story: The Minions have been on planet earth since the beginning. Their one goal is to find the biggest baddest villain to serve. after many years of not finding a master to serve, they retreated to an ice-cave where they remain for the rest of their days till they discovered that without a master, they couldn't be happy. So a couple of minions named Kevin, Bob, and Stuart, set off on a journey to find themselves a new master that they can admire and serve under. The story itself has an interesting setup with the minions going through different time periods to find a bad guy to work under, but then they end up finding Scarlett Overkill to serve under for the remainder of the movie. It may have slowed down the story and all, but for what it tries to tell, its alright.

Characters: This movie has a few characters that someone could like. first off, we have the main three Minions Kevin, Bob, and Stuart all voiced by Pierre Coffin, one of the films directors. They really don't have too much of a multilayers personality other then Kevin (Tall one) is the leader wanting to find and do good for his friends and tribe, Stuart (one eyed one) is the more laid back kind of guy who wants nothing more then to be a guitar player, and Bob (tiny guy) is the cute little child goofball who's a little bit on the naïve side of things and situations. Then we have Scarlett Overkill who is played by the wonderful Sandra Bullock (Gravity, Ms. Congeniality, the Blind Side) where she plays this rather sweet but at the same time deadly villain who wants nothing more then to be the new queen of England and her husband Herb Overkill is played by Jon Hamm (Mad Men, 30 Rock) who is the inventor and the rather suave acting character of the movie.

Animation: Everyone who has watched a Despicable Me movie knows what to expect from the animation. Brightly colored, very stretchy and quite cartoonish, and it shows here, but with some rather nice set pieces and a couple of cool looking sequences, and it works rather good with the 3-D

Music: It's what you'd expect with a Despicable Me movie as well. action frantic music that fits well with the zany antics of the characters. Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Curious George movies) returns to give his wildly spastic score to give the movie the feel of a cartoon and action movie.

I give this movie the final score of a 7 out of 10. It is certainly not as good as Despicable Me 1 or 2, but it could be a lot worse. If your a fan of the Minions, go and watch this, and if you despise them, DON'T

I don’t really like this movie. It’s just mediocre.
